Jan. 18, 2015: Bathroom Breaks

January 19, 2015

Looks like trangenders are getting more breaks when it comes to using public bathrooms. Not only are trans students in California’s public schools legally allowed to use the bathrooms that match their gender identities, but some municipalities — in California and other states — are starting to mandate gender-neutral public restrooms, according to TakePart.com.

Meanwhile, a Kentucky state senator is proposing a bill that would allow students to sue their schools if those schools allow trans kids to use campus restrooms that match their gender identities, according to RawStory.com. I hope school districts in Kentucky rise up against this bill and prevent it from passing — if not because it would amount to legalized discrimination, then at least because it would place an unfair burden on the schools to enforce this ridiculous law and pay the preposterous fine.
