Jan. 12, 2014: Hate Group Challenge

January 12, 2014

The law that allows trans students to express themselves in the gender with which they identify in school took effect Jan. 1, but it is being challenged by hate groups that masquerade as “family” organizations. They’ve collected what appear to be enough signatures on a petition for a vote on repealing the law. The signatures are being validated, and we’ll know by the end of February whether the issue will go forward.

Here’s an article in the Huffington Post that appeared last month, along with a slide-show-type piece on “15 Things to know About Being Transgender” (although the latter piece may be replaced with another slide-show presentation at some point): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/26/california-transgender-law-schools_n_4504265.html#slide=more220827.
